Open letter to the residents and patrons of Bangsar
Dear Friends,
I am writing this letter to you, Bangsar residents and visitors, because as of now, the crime rate in Bangsar has reached alarming levels. More and more people in Bangsar are becoming victims of snatch thefts, break-ins, and assaults. Even prostitutes are now seen along Jalan Telawi nowadays.
Many of you have written letters to inform me of all the above, thank you for doing so. I have to emphasize that I welcome any kinds of comments, criticisms and constructive arguments. I believe it’ll help me to assist you better. But do remember, that while I am here to help. I cannot do it alone.
Thus far, I have managed to conduct dialogue sessions with the police (both closed, and open door meetings), make unannounced visits to different police stations in Bangsar, Pantai Dalam, Sri Sentosa, and ultimately request for formal meetings with top police echelons in Brickfields. It is important to hightlight the ever persistent issue of crime in Bangsar, as well as other areas in Lembah Pantai.
We must speak up against crime, such as the assault that took place even at commonly frequented sites such as the Gujerati Association. I met with the community at the crime scene, bringing together, them (the affected community) with C/Insp. Mat Shahrizan Said (the OCS of Pantai Police Station). It is a frightful thought to worry about our childrens’ safety when they are having activities at the center, especially when police patrol exists.
I will continue to highlight these issues to the media, as well as raise them in Parliament. But again, the most important avenue I have is to appeal for your help. Please come out and state your concerns in front of the police this 28th of February at Pusat Komuniti Bukit Damansara at 10 am (near Sekolah Sri Cempaka). Let’s unite in our effort to help create a safer environment for our children, family and friends.
This session will include suggestions for the police to improve their services. We will open these suggestions for a frank discussion with the people of Bangsar and the Police. I have invited the Deputy OCPD of Brickfields, Supt. Azri Rahman to the forum.
To ensure we are not faulted for not cooperating with security apparatus, I must also ask all of you to lodge a police report if you have been a victim of crime. No matter how difficult the process may be, we must register crime into the national statistics. The thrust of our campaign from now on will be “LODGE A REPORT. PUNISH THE VILLAINS!”. We must do our part, and the police will always be reminded to do theirs!
Join me this Saturday, 28th February 2009, 10am, at Pusat Komuniti Bukit Damansara (near Sekolah Sri Cempaka, next to Saidina Omar Mosque). Or visit http://www.nurulizzah.com/site/stopcrime/ for more info.

I think as a rsponsible MP, asking the resident to demonstrate is not a good way of doing things. It will be more beneficial if you can organise a dialogue with the Police so that we can know what the Police is doing to combat crime in the area. Please do not use the resident for political milage.
‘prihatin’, I think you interpreted my open letter differently than what I intended to mean.
1. Never in my open letter asked people to demonstrate in any way. Indeed what will happen on the 28th is a dialogue between two top police officers of Brickfields (which covers the area of Bangsar). It is a platform for residents to hear out what the police is doing, and a platform for police to hear out the residents. No demonstrations. Just dialogue.
2. Me organizing a forum to stop crime should not be seen as a political mileage. I totally agree with you that we should not politicize something good done for the community.
Thanks for your comments, it gave me an avenue to clear things up at the same time.
See u on Saturday, my lady….
keep up the great work!! If only all PKR & PR reps are like you….
btw, Izzah…
what time on Saturday?
Calendar on the sidebar says 8am to 11am. Ouch! Democracy starts early in Malaysia.
YB, keep up with your intiative. Better to do something than nothing at all. Along the way, we learn from mistakes and improvise. Life is not perfect. Don’t be mindful of those destructive and unproductive crticism. Issues of safety and security should transend political barriers. Terima kasih.
I’ve changed it to 10 am.
Dear YB
Thank you. Whilst crime is on the rise in Bangsar, I regret to note that Bangsar is getting dirtier.
A lot of the monsoon drains have been clogged for months and now become breeding grounds for Ades mosquitoes. Even though I have complained to DBKL no action has been taken,
How can you help us on this issue?
Dear YB
I would like to bring to your attention the illegal vallet parking in Bangsar and Hartamas Area. This problem is so great in many parts of the city including heritage row next to Sheraton hotel. These illegal operators are charging exorbitant fee for parking but they are either double parking and obstructing traffic or taking up existing parking space in open area that belongs to DBKL. If its such a lucrative business why dont the DBKl themselves operate it and normal fee? These rogues are making 15-20 ringgit per car and on average normal night 300 cars but weekend about 500 cars are. If really they wanted to operate valley parking, they should use their own designated area to park the cars and not occupy public car park. Something has to be done to resolve this problem. Some are even blatantly claiming that they have taken certain places on long term lease from DBKL.
Dear Nurul Izzah,
I have to say the level of security in Bangsar is really shocking at the moment especially considering this is one of the top neighborhoods in KL. I hear horror stories almost everyday from fellow residents. Something has to be done – and fast.
Maybe you could coordinate efforts with the relevant resident associations in the area to hold meetings with residents for the purpose of coming up with steps that can be taken to drastically bring the crime rate down. I believe the idea of having patrol guards in the area was put forward sometime last year by the Bangsar Baru resident’s association – a security measure which is being employed by an increasing number of housing areas. However, it did not receive much positive response from the residents themselves because of the cost involved in hiring security guards. That is very unfortunate indeed as the residents need to realise that they themselves need to get involved and take action. I believe this idea should be brought back into light and given much further thought. After all, how can you put a price on the security of your loved ones?
In regards to police patrol at night, is there really any need for the patrol cars to have their police lights on while on patrol. If I can spot a patrol car from a mile away, anyone else can too. Does this not defeat the whole purpose of patrolling?
Rgds
Ps. You’re doing a great job, keep it up. With everyone’s combined efforts, the situation will improve.
Dear Nurul
Thank you for setting up the Crime Watch.
For your collection of statistics, I am a resident and a victim of robbery at Bangsar.
The incident happened in Aug 2008, when I walked up from Pelita, the mamak stall ,to Jln Terasek 7 to collect my car, alone. It was about 9.30pm and the mamak stall was full of people. As I turned the corner to Terasek 7, a motorist rode past, next someone what right behind me…. I was lucky that I was not harmed for a good Malay gentleman heard the commotion and chased the robber away. I lost my handbag containing important docs. Made a police report at the Bangsar police station and was asked to go to Brickfields police station to further register my case… Imagine, I was already so traumatised.. I just told the attendant that I was done with any further police report.
I am now constantly living in fear of my safety, whether I am driving, walking and even at home…

Talking about criminals in Bangsar…one of the biggest criminal is En. Zulkifli Ismail,HR Manager,KTMB.
This guy is really a womaniser and a “house-hold breaker”. He is now 49 years old and using his manager position(namecard), he goes aorund looking for young widows or unssupected lady to pounce on. Then he will start a private affair…umknown to his stupid wife.
His bullet….his is divorced with childrens to take care…and now searching for a mother for the children…and bla..bla..blaa… then the affair will start to heat up into dating..and kisses amd hugging and eventtually into hotel bedroom….i dont know what charm this guy from Cukai,Trengganu has on women..maybe black magic..
This guy has been caught by the religous department TWICE for adultery…the one i rembered was in Wangsa Maju,Seksyen 1…(u can check with Mahkamah Syariah Wilayah in front of KTMB main office). The other one was in Port Dickson…
When his convicted/caught lady partner ask to be married, he declined with so many excuses and perform the “dissapearing act” …when thing cools down…he restarts his sexual ritual….
The last issue when he was at KL Sentral (SBU Antarabandar),,he made pregnant a victim…and the victim went to his office and made such a commotion that he had no choice to marry that poor girl…and after only 6 mth of marriage…divorced her. That poor lady is now in Kamunting,Taiping..taking care of a fatherless son….
This Abang Zul..knows no boundary..his indonesian maid was one of his sexual victim..but when she came to his office to make noise…he paid her off….Just ask the KTMB staff at KL Sentral…
I am that poor lady from Taiping with a grown up boy asking for her unknown father…..
Nur Izzzah…..I have photo prove and emails he sent to other victims..
Just ask him…where is his “second”,”third” wife and ask him….WHO WILL BE HIS NEXT SEXUAL LUST VICTIM?
