Conditional cash transfer programs provide cash assistance to needy families that are conditioned upon specific requirements. We have mobilised this technology in our Love My Neighbourhood program. Together with MyKasih, support is provided to B40 families using a cashless transaction method. RM 80 is transferred every month for a year via their MyKad, to be used for groceries and basic necessities at select supermarkets. To date, MyKasih has channeled RM 260 million via the MyKasih cashless payment system to more than 280,000 families in over 400 locations nationwide.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The scope of the MyKasih system has expanded beyond food aid and student bursaries to include cashless payments for public transportation, fuel, medical treatments and utility bills.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through this system, the MyKad account becomes the single main account to which low-income households can use to access multiple welfare products or services. Use of the MyKad allows aid to be targeted to the right person, enabling it to be distributed in an efficient, transparent and secure way. This feature is likely to be one of the first of its kind in welfare distribution in the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
