{"id":100,"date":"2008-04-14T00:53:50","date_gmt":"2008-04-14T07:53:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nurulizzah.com\/site\/?p=100"},"modified":"2020-02-18T15:03:57","modified_gmt":"2020-02-18T07:03:57","slug":"kuala-lumpur-demand-your-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nurulizzah.com\/site\/kuala-lumpur-demand-your-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"Kuala Lumpur, Demand your rights!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>The problem faced by Bukit Gasing is one caused by the corruption and unaccountability that the previous administration has bred within its ranks and then populated <span>to<\/span> the top ranks of City Hall. DBKL has found it easy to disregard the concerns of the ratepayers due to this. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;background-color:#ffffff;\"><span>I am outraged to note that -although the courts have granted judicial review on DBKL&#8217;s decision to allow the construction, the relevant parties are still continuing works. We\u00a0demand that\u00a0the relevant parties immediately\u00a0obey the stay order issued by the High Court and stop\u00a0further construction works.\u00a0The rule of law must be respected and it begins here and now in the case of Bukit Gasing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;background-color:#ffffff;\"><span>There are two related issues I wish to address today:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;background-color:#ffffff;\"><span>Firstly, the WP Pakatan Rakyat MPs including myself have brought up the specific case of Federal Hill to compel the\u00a0Dato Bandar to exercise his right under rule 5 (2) of the Federal Territory Act 1982 and the Planning (Development) (Amendment) Rules 1994This will\u00a0pave the way for the cancellation or at the very least forestalling of any other questionable development project, including that of Bukit Gasing &#8211; without resorting to the courts. It is stated in the KL Structure Plan 2020 that its objectives are to\u00a0maintain a judicious balance between development, ecology and national heritage create a Tropical Garden City sensitive to it natural site and appropriate to its tropical regional location. Therefore, we must preempt any move\u00a0to manipulate the existing land use as stated in the KL Structure Plan 2020.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Therefore we, the Pakatan Rakyat MPs urge everyone here, concerned citizens everywhere to partake in the discussion of the local KL draft plan on the 15th of May. We must\u00a0remain vigilant in defending our rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;background-color:#ffffff;\"><span>Secondly,\u00a0I will\u00a0continue to exert pressure on DBKL next week\u00a0to ensure that the developer\u00a0respects the stay order mentioned earlier. I urge and request that all of you help\u00a0me in this exercise. We must voice out our strong opposition in\u00a0unison. That is the only way we can urge change.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;background-color:#ffffff;\"><span>DBKL&#8217;s display of unaccountability and lack of transparency in the well documented matter of Bukit Gasing only goes to show one thing. Datuk Bandar asked us in a statement a few days ago to show proof of corruption.
