We, the undersigned Malaysian political parties, non-governmental organizations,\u00a0and concerned citizens of the free world, state that we fully support the efforts of the\u00a0Libyan people in urging Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi to vacate his post as the Ruler\u00a0of Libya. Gaddafi has been the ruler of Libya since 1969 and the Libyan people,\u00a0including high ranking military personnel, ambassadors and diplomats, and even\u00a0members of his own Cabinet have expressed their desire for a new beginning with\u00a0new leadership in the oil-rich state of Libya.<\/p>\n

Gaddafi had once envisioned a prosperous Libya with characteristics such as being\u00a0a Socialist Islamic nation – prioritizing the people\u2019s welfare, political emancipation,\u00a0and a robust and inclusive public education. Even so, the Libyan people clamor for\u00a0a better future for Libya, a most deserved and even more visionary project that they\u00a0must themselves democratically partake in.<\/p>\n
We, the undersigned, hereby reiterate our position in support of the peaceful Libyan\u00a0protestors in their attempts to rehabilitate democracy in Libya.<\/p>\n
Specifically, we call on Gaddafi to:<\/p>\n
1. order the Libyan military to immediately lay down arms and end the killings of\u00a0innocent civilians;<\/p>\n
2. respect the will of the Libyan people, and step down immediately;<\/p>\n
3. conduct free and fair elections to fulfill the aspirations of the Libyan people for a\u00a0full, civilian democracy.<\/p>\n
We hope that the Barisan Nasional Federal Government will support our calls in\u00a0urging Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi to vacate his post for the greater good of his\u00a0people and his nation.<\/p>\n
We hereby fully support this Memorandum, presented by the Coalition of Solidarity\u00a0with the People of Libya.<\/p>\n
