Forum: Malaysian companies ravaging palm oil in PNG

INVITATION TO SAHABAT ALAM MALAYSIA’S PRIVATE FORUM:
BOON OR BANE? MALAYSIAN-LINKED PALM OIL & TIMBER BUSINESS INTERESTS IN INDONESIA & PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM) is pleased to invite interested parties to a private forum to discuss some of the environmental and social impacts of Malaysian-linked palm oil and timber business interests in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea from the perspectives of local organisations working on the ground and the affected communities.
The private forum will feature speakers from non-governmental organisations from Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, including testimonies from affected community representatives. The participating organisations are:
·         WAHANA LINGKUNGAN HIDUP INDONESIA – FRIENDS OF THE EARTH INDONESIA  (WALHI), Indonesia
·         SAWIT WATCH, Indonesia
·         CENTRE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL LAW AND COMMUNITY RIGHTS – FRIENDS OF THE EARTH PAPUA NEW GUINEA (CELCOR), Papua New Guinea
·         PARTNERS WITH MELANESIANS (PWM), Papua New Guinea
